About the event
DESCRIPTION
In this summer Saturday workshop, students will spend the day learning to make beautiful, heirloom-quality wooden spoons and bowls from native hardwoods using only hand tools and traditional techniques. There is an option to take home one or both of the specialty tools (hook knife and sloyd knife) used in the class for an additional fee.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Myron Hall, a Mitchell County native, is a self-taught, lifelong carver. He specialized in decoy carving and competed in carving shows and championships before he began exploring carving spoons and bowls in the late 1990’s. Due to his Appalachian roots, he prefers using hardwoods native to the region. He has demonstrated at local and national shows and festivals and taught Green Wood Spoon and Bowl Carving at the John C. Campbell Folk School.
