"A Day as a Pioneer"
“A Day as a Pioneer” is a full school day program that allows students to learn about regional history and experience living as an Appalachian pioneer. The program is built around 4 rotating stations that each teach a different aspect of pioneer living using hands-on activities. Groups led by an expert guide will rotate through these stations, taking approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour for each. Teachers will be provided with educational materials to be used before, during, and after the visit, which include vocabulary cards, worksheets, maps, and other relevant resources.
School programs are offered on 3 days a week from March 1st to May 31st and from September 1st to October 31st. The cost is $30 a student.
If you are looking for a shorter field trip or a different curriculum, please email director@pioneerlife.org or call 828-284-5340.
