About the event

DESCRIPTION

Join us for TWO consecutive Saturdays this July (the 22nd & 29th) as we learn to spin wool just like the pioneers did!  In this two-day class, students will learn how to create beautiful single and double ply yarns from sheep's wool on drop spindles and spinning wheels similar to those used in the 1850's.  An amazing class for anyone interested in traditional fiber arts.

Space is limited to only 5 participants, so don't hesitate -- register now!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

We'll be led by Yancey County artist, homesteader, and veteran teacher Karen Watkins.  Karen has been spinning, weaving and dyeing with natural plant dyes since 1974, while repairing antique oriental carpets professionally.  She's taught spinning, weaving and dyeing to both children and adults at festivals, schools and earthskills programs since 1975.
