History Happy Hour: Mitzi Moody

Mitzi Moody, author of a series of books about the Cloudland Hotel, will talk about the legendary hotel built in 1885 on Roan Mountain. Mitzi is a bestselling author of Christian historical romances, including Mountain Majesty and Blue Ridge Blues. She also has a podcast and blog about Living a Low Carb Life.   “I want those who read ‘Mountain Majesty’ to be swept away into another time and place in which they will fall in love with the characters and gain insight into the history of the Blue Ridge Mountains and people of the past,” Moody said. “But most of all, I want them to grow closer to God.”  She has hosted an award-winning bluegrass show and has worked in radio, tv, and newspaper. She has received the Standard Publishing Christian Service Award and was named Avery County Woman of the Year.  Mitzi and her husband, Phil, minister of Spruce Pine Christian Church, have been married 43 years and have two grown children and three grandchildren.
