Live Theater is Back!

Join us at the Center for Pioneer Life for a series of original monologues by historical characters from Yancey County’s past, each researched, written, and performed by actors from the

Theater Arts Program at Mountain Heritage High School.

On Tuesday, May 11, from 5 to 8 PM, the community is invited for an

open-air tour of the Center for Pioneer Life as they enjoy this original,

live historical theater. All performances are ongoing throughout the evening.  In addition, written family essays and memoirs from the high school Junior English classes will be on display on the grounds.

The Theater Arts Department at Mountain Heritage, in collaboration

with the Center for Pioneer Life, envisioned this project. It is funded through a Bright Ideas in Education Grant from the French Broad

Electric Cooperative.

Teaching support has been contributed by

Dylan Wilson, historical storyteller, and farm manager at the Center,

and Debra Frasier, award-winning author, illustrator, and education consultant to the Center’s outreach programs.

Just like the pioneers, we’ll be on the farm, rain or shine!

These events have been postponed. Please check back regularly for updates.
